In priority order: the first line that applies is the one you press.
- Maintain totems that will benefit your group the most via Call of the Elements . Simultaneously places up to 4 totems specified in the Totem Bar.
- Maintain Water Shield . The caster is surrounded by 3 globes of water. When a spell, melee, or ranged attack hits the caster or when one of the caster's healing spells gets a critical result, 2% of maximum mana is restored to the caster, expending one water globe. Only one globe will activate every few seconds. Lasts 10 min. Only one Elemental Shield can be active on the Shaman at any one time.
- Maintain Ancestral Healing on the tank if assigned and needed. Increases your target's armor value by 8% for 15 sec after getting a critical effect from one of your healing spells.
- Use Mana Tide Totem when everyone in your group will benefit the most from it. Summons a Mana Tide Totem with 5 health at the feet of the caster for 12 sec that restores 197 mana every 3 seconds to group members within 30 yards.
- Use Nature's Swiftness with Healing Wave or Chain Heal for an instant emergency heal. When activated, your next Nature spell with a casting time less than 10 sec. becomes an instant cast spell.
- Maintain Riptide on the tank and players taking constant damage. Heals a friendly target for 613 to 678, an additional 575 over 15 sec, and increases the effectiveness of your Chain Heal casts directly on that target by 25%.
- Cast Chain Heal for AoE healing. Prioritize targets with a Riptide buff. Heals the friendly target for 245 to 282, then jumps to heal additional nearby targets. If cast on a party member, the heal will only jump to other party members. Each jump is 50% as effective as the previous target. Heals 3 total targets.
- Cast Healing Wave or Lesser Healing Wave for single-target healing. Heals a friendly target for 36 to 47.

- RiptideRestoration gets an instant heal with a heal-over-time attached, widening a toolkit that was almost entirely direct heals in Classic.
Elsewhere in Shaman
- Shamans are no longer Horde-onlyDwarves can play Shaman for the first time, and Horde-aligned Skyborne join the existing roster. This is the largest identity change the class has had since Vanilla.
- Lava BurstElemental gains a Fire nuke that interacts with Flame Shock, giving the tree a hard-hitting button it never had.
- Maelstrom WeaponMelee hits reduce the cast time of your next spell, finally connecting Enhancement's melee and casting halves instead of leaving them separate.
- Two-handed weapons are baselineTwo-handed axes and maces no longer cost a talent. Dual wield was not available in the level 38 BlizzCon build.
